Dixieland Delight Lyrics
By Alabama
Welcome to this Dixieland Delight Lyrics page where you'll find the Alabama lyrics to this song located below, along with my
acoustic demo tutorial.
Ronnie Rogers, a Nashville songwriter, actually wrote the Dixieland Delight lyrics for Alabama while he was driving down Highway 11W in Rutledge Tenn.
He pitcured his arm around his girlfriend at the end of a long hard work week and the fun that lie ahead for them both. Rogers
made reference in the song to several animals because they brought him peace.
Alabama's final recording of this song back in 1982 was very different then the demo originally cut by Rogers. The group produced
the video below for this song. Apparently the University of Alabama plays this song frequently at all of its home football games.

--- Start Of Lyrics For Dixie Land Delight --
Rollin down a backwoods ... Tennessee byway ... one arm on the wheel
Holdin my Lover ... with the other ... a sweet soft southern thrill
Worked hard all week ... got a little jingle ... on a Tennessee Saturday night
Couldnt feel better ... Im together ... with my dixieland delight
Spend my dollar ... parked in a holler neath the mountain moonlight
Hold her uptight ... make a little lovin ... a little turtle dovin on a Mason Dixon night
Fits my life ... oh so right ... my dixieland delight
Whitetail buck deer ... munchin on clover ... redtail hawk ... settin on a limb
A Chubby old groundhog ... croakin bullfrog .... free as the feelin in the wind
Home grown country girl ... gonna give me a whirl ... on a Tennessee Saturday night
Lucky as a seven ... livin in heaven ... with my dixieland delight
Spend my dollar ... parked in a holler neath the mountain moonlight
Hold her uptight ... make a little lovin ... a little turtle dovin on a Mason Dixon night
Fits my life ... oh so right ... my dixieland delight
My dixieland delight
My dixieland delight
