This song came about from a booing incident at MSG in Oct of 1971. Nelson was on tour with some rock and roll legends such as Chuck Berry and Bo Didley. The concert was to feature 50's stars and their songs ... but when Nelson started playing 70's tunes, there was booing. Some say the booing was because of police and crowd interaction at the back of the hall, but Nelson thought it was his singing, so he left the stage. Garden Party came out in the Fall of 1972 and was his last hit.
