George is now 78 (as of 2009) and is on his fourth marriage. His current wife has been with him since 1983 and he credits wife Nancy for rescuing him and his career.
He began listening to the radio at age 5 and was playing guitar by age 9, often for loose change from residents
of his hometown in Beaumont, TX.
Jones was singing on the radio at age 16 and was married for less than a year before he turned 20.
He did service in the USMC but did not serve in any conflicts. When he returned to civy street, things started to happen for his career.
Currently George has his own line of sausages and BBQ sauces which are marketed under his name and Jones is also a member
of the Grand Ole Opry and has been now for 39 years.
He once rode a lawn mower 8 miles to a bar and 10 miles to a liquor store ... a stint that is well known to his fans.

George was also married to Tammy Wynette from 1969 to 1975 after which time they divorced. In country music they became known
as country's "first couple". Her and George had one child born in 1970 ... Tamala Georgette Jones.
